From paper to project
Fold the square diagonally into a triangle with its point at the top.
Bring both bottom corners up to the top point, then reopen them.
Fold only the upper layer of the top point down to the middle of the base.
Bring one side corner back up to the top point.
Tuck that side point into the pocket made by the folded upper layer.
Repeat on the other side, flatten the pocket and test it on a page without forcing the spine.
Check it with an example
A 15 cm square produces a pocket about 7.5 cm wide. For a small book, try a 10 cm square first.
If it does not turn out as expected
If it unfolds, check that both points are inside the pocket rather than just behind it. Avoid thick embellishments that leave marks on pages.
