From paper to project
Protect the table and mix a small quantity of colour.
Paint a test area with a barely damp brush.
Let it dry fully without lifting the wet lace edge.
If it holds its shape, apply a light wash to the remaining pieces.
Fold each dry doily in half around the string.
Glue only the upper band and dry before hanging.
Check it with an example
Six 12 cm doilies with five 3 cm gaps span 87 cm. Allow extra string at both ends for hanging.
If it does not turn out as expected
Use less water if they ripple. Apply thinner layers if paint blocks the cutouts. Keep coloured pieces away from direct food contact.
