From paper to project

  1. Wash the stones and let them dry fully.

  2. Paint five with an X and five with a circle, then dry as directed.

  3. Divide the board into nine 7 × 7 cm squares.

  4. Keep the counters beside the board, grouped by symbol.

  5. Take turns placing one counter in an empty square.

  6. Finish when someone makes a line of three or all nine squares are occupied.

Check it with an example

A game uses at most nine counters, but ten provide five of each symbol. Check each stone fits inside a square.

If it does not turn out as expected

Keep symbols as well as colour if colours are difficult to distinguish. Do not turn small stones into baby toys or add magnets to this game.
