From paper to project

  1. Measure the pad’s width, height and thickness.

  2. Draw a cover two widths plus the thickness wide, with 2 mm height clearance.

  3. Mark two spine folds separated by the measured thickness.

  4. Fold gently and place the pad inside to check closure.

  5. Glue only the pad’s back board to the inside rear cover.

  6. Dry open and check that the first sheet lifts easily.

Check it with an example

A 7.5 × 7.5 cm pad 0.8 cm thick needs about 15.8 cm of cover width, plus clearance required by your card.

If it does not turn out as expected

A cover that cannot close needs a wider spine. Do not squash the sheets to compensate; remake it using the actual thickness.
