From paper to project

  1. Fold a sample napkin as it will sit on the table.

  2. Wrap a strip around it without compressing the fabric.

  3. Mark where the strip meets and add a 2 cm overlap.

  4. Cut matching bands and glue each ring closed.

  5. Add a flat flower on the outside away from the join.

  6. Slide in the napkin and check it can be removed easily.

Check it with an example

A 13 cm circumference needs a 15 cm band including its 2 cm overlap. Do not keep the full 18 cm if the ring is too loose.

If it does not turn out as expected

Use heavier card or a smaller decoration if it collapses. Never glue the ring closed directly around a damp napkin.
