From paper to project

  1. Tear the paper into small pieces and let it soften in water.

  2. Break the mixture down with a spoon; this activity does not need electrical equipment near water.

  3. Spread a thin layer on mesh supported above a container.

  4. Let it drain and cover with cloth to remove water with gentle pressure.

  5. Transfer carefully onto dry cloth and dry in a ventilated place.

  6. Once fully dry, use it for a decorative card and test its strength before cutting.

Check it with an example

A thick layer dries slowly and tears when lifted. Make a 10 × 10 cm sample to practise water removal before attempting a larger sheet.

If it does not turn out as expected

Do not add food scraps, unidentified seeds or treated paper of unknown composition. Discard a sample that develops odour or mould rather than giving it as a gift.
