From paper to project
Join the rectangle’s short edges with a 1 cm overlap to make a tube.
Flatten one end and tape a 1 cm-wide closure.
Insert the gift while leaving free space at the top.
Turn the top closure 90 degrees relative to the bottom.
Tape it shut and add two flat card ears.
Draw a face and tail and check the pouch holds the weight without opening.
Check it with an example
The crossed closures make a roughly tetrahedral shape. Try plain paper before using patterned stock.
If it does not turn out as expected
Bulky contents distort the pouch. Reduce the load rather than adding staples or small detachable pieces to a child’s gift.
